Module description

In this module you will learn about investment management, providing a base for more advanced modules in investment.

The module focuses on the principles and practices of how the firm values its business and manages risk, and develops technical, analytical and critical skills in advanced finance topics.

Learning objectives

By the end of this module, you should understand:

  • the basic concepts of investment
  • the importance of bonds and stocks
  • risk, return and portfolio concepts.

You should also be able to:

  • demonstrate a critical understanding of sustainable investing principles, including the role of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors in investment decision-making, portfolio construction and long-term value creation
  • apply ESG integration techniques and evaluate sustainable investment strategies using real-world data and case studies, with the ability to assess the financial and non-financial impacts of such investments.
